Exchange facilities in Lassi
« on: May 27, 2009, 09:56:10 am »
Just 4 weeks on Sunday til back in Lassi - can't wait.  Just back from a school trip to Italy and had some trouble cashing american express euro traveller cheques.
Has anyone had any problem cashing them in Lassi and if not what was the exchange rate like - better to take euro or sterling TCs.
Katarina :)

American Express - the Devil incarnate!

Do not take AmEx to Kefalonia, the tavernas and shops will add anything upto 10% to cover their costs.

Most places in Lassi do not like them, trust them and say that they are to expensive to cash.

Take sterling travellers cheques, euros or British notes.

Or get a "holiday" credit card and draw cash out in Argostoli.  We have a Nationwide mastercard - no fee for withdrawing cash and you get the business exchange rate too.  Just pay the bill as soon as you get back and avoid paying any interest.

We normally go to Argostoli every 3 or 4 days and grab some cash whilst we are there.  Plenty of cash machines there.

Never had a problem in Skala with travellers cheques, but is it better to take sterling? I know you can't rely on the cash machines.
